This Trustees week say #CountMeIn

Are you new to volunteering and looking to make your skills count? Already working in the charity sector with finance expertise and experience? Maybe you are a charity that is looking for a trustee with finance skills to join your board? Whatever your position, this campaign is for you. Please join us.

This Trustees week, 4th – 8th November 2025, Charterpath is thrilled to be part of the Count Me In campaign—a collaborative initiative launched alongside amazing charity friends Embrace Finance, Reach Volunteering, the Honorary Treasurers Forum and ICAEW. Our mission? To celebrate finance trustees, inspire more people to become finance trustees and support charities in finding the financial expertise they need to thrive.

It won’t come as any surprise that this is a cause close to our hearts at Charterpath. We’ve seen first-hand how finance expertise can transform a charity’s operations and amplify its impact. From budgeting to strategic planning, finance volunteers provide the vital support that enables charities to focus on their core missions. Financial stability isn’t just about numbers; it’s about long-term sustainability. With finance trustees' support, charities can focus on delivering impact in their communities, knowing their financial health is secure.

Why finance trustees matter

With demand for charitable services at an all-time high and many charities struggling with limited resources, skilled trustees are essential. Whether you’re an accountant, book-keeper, or financial advisor, your knowledge and expertise will be invaluable.  From managing budgets to strategic financial planning, volunteers with financial skills can provide the guidance and support needed to overcome these hurdles.

Why volunteer?

Your financial skills are a superpower

Please don’t underestimate the impact of volunteering your skills for even just a few hours a month. When budgets are tight, your finance and accounting skills are real superpowers that charities need and you can make a huge impact.

Volunteering benefits you, too

Research shows that 77% of volunteers experience improved mental well-being from their efforts. Beyond that, volunteering opens doors to new networks, opportunities for personal growth, and the chance to develop valuable skills—whether it's leading meetings, shaping strategy, or working on financial tasks that go beyond your day job. It’s practical experience that can also give your CV a boost.

Strength in numbers

Through #CountMeIn, we’re demonstrating the power of collaboration. Each of our campaign partners offers unique support for finance trustees—from raising awareness to providing training and mentorship. Together, we aim to amplify our impact by reaching more finance professionals and charities.  Special thanks to Liz Pepler at Embrace Finance for her leadership and passion in spearheading this campaign.

About Charterpath

Charterpath CIO is a UK registered charity (1207509) on a mission to chart a path between non-profits and volunteers with financial skills. Charterpath was co-founded by Alice Clementi and Alex Marsh, both chartered accountants with extensive volunteering and fundraising experience alongside their professional careers. They were inspired to start Charterpath in 2020, after seeing first-hand the unprecedented financial challenges facing the non-profit sector from the pandemic.
